Oprah Picks Elie Wiesel Book for Student Essay Contest: "Oprah Picks Wiesel Book for Student Essay Contest High School Students Will Read & Write About Night In January, Oprah Winfrey announced an essay contest for high school students across America. For Oprah's National High School Essay Contest, students are to read the book Night by Elie Wiesel. And in their essays, they must answer the question 'Why is Elie Wiesel's book Night relevant today?' Judges for the contest will select 50 high school students. Each finalist, along with one designated parent or guardian, will receive a trip to an Oprah Show taping in late February. To support this nationwide initiative, Oprah's Web site is offering comprehensive study materials for students, teachers, and parents. The deadline for entries is February 6, 2006.
